MUS 505 Research Essay - Finding Sources

This guide will show you how to find Peer Reviewed articles and other sources  or your MUS 505 essay.

  • For essay guidelines, please refer to your Assignment handout.

TIPS:

  • There is a good chance there is NO PEER REVIEWED article on your chosen musical artist or group.
  • BUT there will be peer reviewed articles on the musical genre or historical issues that surround your artist.
    • Conduct a search using your artist/groups name - if nothing shows up....
      • Conduct a search on the genre or the bigger issue facing that group during its time.

Examples:

Hip Hop and Politics

Racism and Popular Music

Women and Country Music

Heavy Metal Music and Youth Identity

Concert Scene - Decorative
