The CRSP/Compustat Merged (CCM) Database provides the historical matching of CRSP market and corporate action data with Compustat fundamental data. The database is structured so that Compustat items can be accessed using CRSP's PERMNO/PERMCO identifiers and Compustat's GVKEY identifiers. Therefore, the linked CCM database allows access to both data providers from a single tool in a common output format, allowing for a superior level of accuracy.
